Lighting research has been high on the agenda at Research Centre Hoogstraten in recent years. With the increase in lighted area in the region, research and education received more and more questions about how we should correctly light crops to get the most out of our plants. Within the Vlaio track Lightman, Research Centre Hoogstraten was able to conduct light intensity trials that taught us more about the light requirements of strawberry crops during the winter months. Under the various intensities, different light sums were obtained by adding the sun's PAR radiation to the exposure. With the light sums, we were able to plot strategies to reflect daily lighting requirements of the crops. For more info, please contact Peter Melis.
